Gidsel Matches 17-Year-Old Champions League Scoring Record

Mathias Gidsel delivered a standout performance on Thursday night, scoring 17 goals to help Füchse Berlin secure a 40-32 victory over FC Porto in the EHF Champions League.

The Danish playmaker's tally equalled a long-standing competition record that had stood for 17 years. The mark was previously set by Jesús "Chuchi" Martínez de la Cal, who scored 17 goals for Valladolid against PAOK Thessaloniki.

Gidsel's display places him alongside one of the most prolific single-match performances in Champions League history, further cementing his reputation as one of the sport's top talents.
